This is the fourth time that IWC has launched a special edition watch to sponsor the Lawrence Sports Foundation. The first three special editions of Lawrence are the Portuguese automatic chronograph released in 2006, the pilot automatic chronograph in 2007, and the Da Vinci chronograph in 2008. The 2009 model for the sports public welfare relay is its famous Portuguese automatic watch, limited to 1,000 pieces. Made of stainless steel, the dial color is IWC’s distinctive ‘Lawrence Blue’. As in previous years, IWC once again held a children’s drawing competition for all children participating in the Lawrence Sports Foundation’s global support activities. The winner of the competition will be engraved on the round badge and set on the back of the special edition watch. This year’s champion is 12-year-old K.D. Sriyan Chamod Dilshan from Sri Lanka. In his paintings, four young people hold hands in a circle, depicting the theme of ‘team spirit’ with moving strokes. ‘. Part of the watch’s proceeds will be donated to the Lawrence Sports Foundation in Argentina, Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Spain, South Africa, the United States and Switzerland.
This time, IWC chose the “Portuguese Automatic Watch” as its fourth and most charitable watch. The watch is equipped with IWC-manufactured 51011 mechanical movement and a Pellerton winding system that provides a 7-day power reserve. It is also equipped with a large date display, a small second hand and a pointer showing the remaining power reserve.
